1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

The first year of the Thunderbird, and one of the less common three-pedal cars — a two-seat convertible in white over black and white, with a rebuilt 292 V8 and both tops included.

1955 was the Thunderbird’s debut, and the only generation Ford built it as a true two-seater. This one is finished in white with a black and white interior, riding on wire wheels with nearly new tires and inner tubes, and wearing European-style front fog lights.

Under the hood is a rebuilt 292 cubic-inch (4.8L) V8 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission — the road less traveled, as most 1955 Thunderbirds left Dearborn with the Ford-O-Matic automatic. The car is equipped with power steering, power brakes and power windows, and carries an added air conditioning system, radio and CD changer, all in working order. It runs well and has benefited from a long list of mechanical work.

Tops, and Please Note

This Thunderbird includes both a soft top and a removable hardtop. The soft top is new but needs additional time in the sun to stretch and achieve proper fit. The hardtop is included with its storage stand and will need new foam molding and installation of the window. The spare tire is missing.

Air conditioning, radio and CD changer are added equipment and were not factory options on the 1955 Thunderbird.
